What is Dark Lip Neutralization?

Dark Lip Neutralization is a permanent makeup procedure that is used to neutralize the darkness in the lips in order to reach a desired color

This procedure will give you a  lighter, more even lip color. Corrective colors are used to enhance the natural pink or peach color tone of the lips.

Depending on your desired results and the amount of melanin present, multiple sessions may be required.

Is Dark Lip Neutralization Permanent?

No. It is semi-permanent, lasting on average 3 years. Pigments are designed to fade over time. Client results will vary from person to person. Retention of the pigment is out of our control, as it is determined by the patient's skin type, how well they follow after-care procedures, lifestyle, as well as their immune system, therefore no guarantee can be made as to how long results will last. We do recommend that you get your 1st touch up within 6-12 weeks after your initial session to perfect your lips. Multiple sessions may be required to reach your desired results. Lips that are richer in melanin may need more sessions. After your desired result is reached, an annual touch up for color boost can be done to keep color looking fresh.

Is the procedure painful?

Pain tolerance varies from person-to-person. At inkonic beauty you will be numbed using a topical cream for 20 minutes before the start of the procedure and then in intervals throughout the procedure to keep you as comfortable as possible. Most clients feel very little no pain at all.

How long is the procedure?

Appointment time can take anywhere from 2-3 hours. (Please eat before appointment)

What is the Pre-Care?

Make sure to exfoliate the lips 3 days prior for optimal results.  48 hours (2 days) before your appointment, make sure to avoid any type of blood thinner, including, but not limited to: Alcohol, coffee, Ibuprofen, Tylenol, Aspirin, Fish Oil, etc.

What is the healing process?

After the first session of the  procedure, your lips need 6 to 8 weeks to heal. During this period, the color of the pigment will begin to fade. Shortly after the session, your lips may be bright red and have some swelling, but this is normal. The color can remain the same for about a week. Do not pick, scratch or peel scabs. Lips will be swollen right after procedure and will go down within 24 hours.
